Growing up in Montana surrounded by dogs, horses, and other animals cultivated an affinity for all things equestrian at a young age. My days were spent riding bareback, romping through fields and discovering mountainsides with friends.
A few years after graduating High School, I joined the US Navy in 2006, and began a new adventure on my own. I found myself face to face with this handsome and intriguing fellow Sailor, Christopher Arellano! Five years later we were married at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, CO. We built a not-so-small family, sharing 4 beautiful children. We had served 6 honorable years in the Navy when Chris and I decided it was time to live on the civilian side. With the promise of owning horses in our future, we made our way back to Colorado Springs (where Chris’ family resides) in 2013.
Colorado is a horse loving state and it wasn’t long before horses came flooding back into my life. Through a friend, we met Rayne, a sweet little Arabian brood mare, at DreamCatchers Equine Rescue. She became our first rescue and will be treasured in our household for all of her days. You can’t just have one! So, numbers grew over the years into quite a little herd of our own. We are Blessed to live on a beautiful ranch, just south of Colorado Springs, with our humble herd, dogs, and barn cats (okay, okay. . .one cat lives inside and another has house visiting privileges).
After transplanting to Colorado, I devoted my life to training horses for several years. My passion lies in rescue horses in need of rehabilitation and a second chance to learn, or a first chance to learn. Many of our own horses have been adopted from rescues. Though I no longer train, I personally, and through Rocky Mountain Girls Hemp Products, work with several rescues to help horses find their forever homes. We host horses from three different rescues here at the ranch, providing them with a safe place to land for a while (and lots of tender loving care). Through the daily care of these special horses, the whole family gets to intimately know them. It is truly a magical place; horses transform here. We erase their past and help them rewrite their own fairytale. One of my rescue tales is of Scooby, my old Appy gelding, who (paired with Dawn’s Arab Angel), helped launch the heart of Rocky Mountain Girls Hemp Products. He was severely arthritic (you have to watch the video of him before RMG hemp pellets). Scooby’s life has also led us to begin a partnership with Safe Landing Horse Rescue, opening sanctuary gates to older horses (some blind) for comfort, love and dignity for the rest of their days. The kids just adore wise old Equine. . . and WE can’t get enough of them! These oldies sure let the kids know they know them, whether they can see or not! We love to imagine what grand adventures they may have had in their long lives, and we whisper daily to each one. . . telling them how amazing they are how glad we are they are here.
The Arellano’s are a homeschooling family. We love the time it allows for us to all spend together every day. Together we learn, play, and PRAY! Above all we value the Lord and count every blessing in our lives!
I have always felt that God instilled this passion for horses into my heart for a reason. . . a greater purpose. I truly believe my life experiences have led me to what is now Rocky Mountain Girls Hemp Products! I am beyond excited to share the healing benefits of CBD with the world! And am so thankful my friend Dawn, convinced me to join her on this wild CBD journey! Our lives and health have been forever changed!
